* The Colts, Chiefs, Broncos, and Bills hold the top four spots in the Total Points rankings but if you look at the PDF, you’ll see they’re separated by a fraction of a point and are all basically even. A lot of parity at the top.

* The Texans are 3-4 but they are 5th in our Total Points rankings. Houston has the No. 17-ranked offense but the No. 2-ranked defense AND ranks 4th in special teams, which vaults it over the logjam of other teams in the Top 10.

* Tucker Kraft is decisively the No. 1 tight end in football both in terms of Total Points (his 30 are eight better than anyone else) and Total Points Per 60 Plays (he’s at 4.6 - no one is within a point of him.

* If you’re trying to assess who the No. 1 safety in football is, it’s a good discussion. Talanoa Hufanga, Brandon Jones, Tykee Smith, .Ronnie Hickman, and Antoine Winfield Jr. are all within 1 point of each other in terms of Total Points Yep, the Broncos have the top two safeties in that stat.

* If you want to see the Total Points leaders among offensive linemen, defensive tackles, linebackers, kickers, and punters, download the PDF within the e-mail.

Daniel Jones, yes Daniel Jones, is crushing it statistically this season He's #1 in our player value stat, Total Points, which encompasses all he does ... and all he doesn't do More on Total Points: Leaders: SISDataHub.com Explainer: tinyurl.com/5fmb3b82

* Yes, the number of games is uneven in some cases, but Jonathan Taylor leading in yards after contact by 150 yards is a heck of an accomplishment. He’s also averaging 4.1 yards after contact per rush, a huge jump from the 2.4 he averaged last season.

* Nik Bonitto is one of four players with a 22% pressure percentage this season, but he’s the most impressive among them in that his pressure percentage is 7.5 percentage points higher than his expected rate based on alignment and situation. The only player with a bigger gap between his pressure percentage and his expected pressure percentage is Jeffrey Simmons (8.7 percentage points higher).

Matchups and Mismatches

When we look at matchups by unit and compare the teams playing a particular game, there are intriguing matchups and mismatches each week. The Total Points PDF has this for each game in the NFL in a given week.

You can also find much of this information at the SIS DataHub Pro.

Here are some things we noticed:

(All references to rankings are in the context of Total Points Per Play)

* Chiefs-Bills is a game to circle for obvious reasons. It will be interesting to see how Kansas City defends the pass given that it ranks No. 1 in Pass Coverage and No. 9 in Pass Rush.

* Patriots-Falcons will be a good test for both team’s quarterbacks. The Falcons rank No. 4 in Pass Coverage, one spot ahead of the Patriots.

* A matchup to watch between the Bears and Bengals: The Bengals rank No. 2 in Rushing. The Bears are No. 2 in Run Defense.

* Daniel Jones and the Colts may be poised for a big day. The Steelers rank No. 31 in Pass Coverage. The Colts offense ranks No. 1 in Passing and No. 6 in receiving.
